Most of the British population supported the idea of defending democratic government in Spain. The UK and the USA stated that they would be absolutelly neutral. Most of them later fought in WW2 with the soviets. They both tried a lot of their war machinery for the first time in real combat situations, including aircraft of course.Īfter the first few bombardments, cities under attack sent their children to russia to protect them from the terror warfare. Spanish Civil War was the prelude of WW2 for both the European Axis and Russia, since they were the main supporters of the two sides.
